Gyratory testing machine procedures for selecting design asphalt content of paving mixtures
Voids properties of compacted paving mixtures, and paving mixtures and gyratory angles recorded during compaction were determined for several paving mix types; method was developed for selecting paving mixture design asphalt contents from gyratory angles recorded during gyratory compaction; compaction conditions used were 100 psi, 1°, 30 revolutions, and 200 psi, 1°, 30 revolutions; three leveling revolutions were used after 30th compaction revolution; machine was operated at 2.4 sec/revolution.
