A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Identification of clays suspected of having dangerous expansive capacity is established, and several examples are given of Colombian soils, and comparative analysis is made of their characteristics in connection with highway engineering; method is proposed that applies usual grading tests, Atterberg limits, and classification of roadbeds, and reveals clays suspected of having expansive properties, which can then be subjected to other tests in order to identify expansive roadbeds and to ascertain their expansive capacity.
