Asphaltic concrete lining was used in construction of 30-million-gal distribution reservoir for New York's Onondaga Country Water District; lining consists of 6 in. of asphaltic concrete, placed in two lifts and compacted to nearly 100% permeability; lining rests on cushion of bank-run gravel; floor of reservoir has, in addition 1/4 in.-thick pure asphalt membrane under gravel layer; lining is designed to prevent not only percolation of filtered water from earthen reservoir, but also infiltration of groundwater into reservoir.
