Long precast bridge slabs carry tracks without ballast
Canadian National completed two single-track bridges in which track ballast is eliminated completely and rails are set directly on oak cushion strips flush with top surface of deck slab; details of joint and reinforcing; equipment. (see also Ry Eng and Maintenance v 29 n 8 Aug 1933 p 373-5)
