Hydroelectric development of Tavropos (Megdova) River, Greece
Project is sixth of basic development plan of hydroelectric power in Greece and anticipates creation of 120,000 kw plant; because region is subject to seismic disturbances, studies were made to develop high strength concrete mixtures; construction of earthquake-resistant, 83 m high dam at Kakavakia and work on rock consolidation are described; difficulties in excavating 2691 m long penstock and auxiliary tunnels in argillaceous schist.
