Floods in tropical regions
Climatic characteristics of tropical regions, especially those concerning rainfall, explain some peculiar points in regime of African rivers; geomorphological characteristics of lateritic soils of such regions, favoring formation of underground basins, and small gradients of zones of sedimentary deposition, aid water storage, and consequently increase summer discharges and decrease flood peaks.
