Reference is made to need for standardized and reusable structures for relief of congested urban road junctions and during construction work in progress; rapid erection in 1961 of prototype at Birmingham, England with minimum of interference to traffic is described and indication of total costs is given; reference is made to epoxyresin light weight surfacing to steel deck; full scale tests carried out on steel orthotropic deck with simulated actual loading, and some results.
