Viscoelastic response of asphalt paving slabs under creep loading
Equipment employed in slab research consists of large spring base inclosed in constant-temperature cabinet; several slabs compacted from mixture selected for study were statically loaded on this base, and resulting deflected shape of each was recorded against time by system of linear variable differential transformers; slabs were tested over temperature range from 40 to 140 F; each slab was subjected to stresses ranging from very low to very high to establish linearity of its response pattern.
