Study of viscosity-graded asphalt cements
Laboratory study of asphalt cements representing broad range of sources that were collected by Bureau of Public Roads to investigate feasibility of grading and specifying asphalts by viscosity at 140 F in lieu of penetration at 77 F; among other findings, results indicate that when asphalt is graded by viscosity at 140 F resultant materials will have more uniform within-grade consistency at temperatures of 140 F and higher than materials obtained by use of present system of grading asphalts by penetration at 77 F.
