A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Unlike hydraulic problems of channel confluence, large dimensions and resulting sufficiently small differences in river and tributary velocities justify use of linearized equations in treating hydrodynamic effects; equations of motion and continuity are derived, solutions of which yield additional component of river velocity perturbation as well as perturbation of river level as function of width of mouth of tributary.
