Properties of Pneumatically Placed Refractory Concretes
Properties of gunited calcium aluminate cement concretes were studied to determine effects of admixtures and to make comparison with properties of hand-place mixes over range of densities, thermal conductivities, etc, use of admixtures results in compromise on properties, i.e., with desired reduction in rebound loss of gunited material, there is corresponding loss in density and strength of concrete in place; in general, gunite concretes possess superior strengths, lower porosities, greater densities, and proportionately lower thermal conductivities than normal cast concretes.
