Birmingham's tallest building "topped out".
Description of 498-ft high tower, consisting of 458-ft reinforced concrete, surmounted by 40 ft high circular steel finial, which houses retractable crane handling dish and horn type aerials; together with 620 ft high Post Office Tower in London it will have potential for 150,000 telephone and 40 television channels; rigid structure withstanding wind loads of up to 250 tons, has been tested by aero-elastic model in wind tunnel; calculations of gusts of 85 mph lasting 15 sec indicated 4 1/2 in. lateral movement at top.
