Fire resistance of rigid polyurethane foam
One aspect of use of urethane foams in building applications is their fire resistance; majority of modern rigid urethane foams are self-extinguishing or nonburning as tested by British ASTM D 1692-59T method; Standard BS 476 Pt 1 specified three tests for classifying fire performance of building material or elements -- combustibility, surface spread of flame, and fire resistance of structures; B.S. 476 Pt 3 is form of test to assess hazard of fire spreading to roof of building from nearby source.
