Wilhelm Lehmbruck Museum consists of two blocks of steel construction, linked by entrance hall; block containing gallery for temporary exhibitions is designed to receive maximum influx of daylight; both side and top lighting are provided to all parts; gallery is built without internal columns, roof structure and suspended glass walling being carried by five steel portal frames extending high above roof level; block containing plastic art gallery is three stories high of which one only stands above ground level; it has pressed-steel roof lights covered with acrylic domes.
