Problems of bus station operation in Bergen, Norway, are influenced by terrain and climate; number of buses and coaches in country of Bergen and Hordaland was 250 in 1939 and today it had reached about 850; description of Central Bus Station, opened in 1959; building which provides its public with first-class service, is dominated by spacious arcade, with pillar-free roof and overhead lights from large windows on roof terrace; ventilation is slightly pressurized to keep out exhaust gases coming from platforms; special feature of station is underground tunnel which passengers use to gain access to 14 out of 15 platforms; latter are partially roofed; description of other facilities.
