Abnormal effect of specimen thickness on impact strength
Experiments on MSt.3kp, Kh18N10T, and Kh14G14N3T steels and AMg5V aluminum alloy; specimens of MSt.3kp were made from 25 mm hot rolled plates; specimens of Kh18N10T and Kh14G14N3T were made from 18 and 16 mm plate respectively in austenitic conditions, while specimens of AMg5V were made from 16 mm thick hardened sheet; specimens were cooled in cryostat filled with liquid nitrogen or cooled in ethyl alcohol; tests were carried out on MK30 impact-testing machine. (see also English translation in Indus Laboratory v 31 n 11 Nov 1965 p 1729-31)
