Results of work done at Central Building Research Institute, India; equations of equilibrium of doubly curved shells on rectangular plan; boundary conditions; openings other than rectangular; use of shallow, doubly-curved shell for low cost housing programs; shell units are cast by letting shell `cast itself'; tests on units, and on full roof indicate safety of construction.
