Novel roof designed for 20,000 seat stadium in Montevideo, Uruguay, embodies concave surface and requires no columns, buttressing or construction forms; roof is supported on 256 cables anchored at their outer ends to compression-ring cornice which tops cylindrical wall, and at their inner ends to steel ring at center of stadium; roof itself is of precast concrete slabs 2 in. thick.
