642×226 ft roof of pavilion comprises 19 aluminum roof trusses of double parabola shape resting on 47 1/2 ft high, 11 ft diam, steel end columns without intermediate support; top and bottom of columns are hinged; special tie arrangement provides stability to structure; application of prestressing to prevent alternating relaxation and straightening of ties by wind force.
