1,657,382 sq yd of single course bituminous seal coat contracted for by Iowa State Highway Commission in 1957; asphalt cement and liquid cement sealing of 112 mi of Iowa State primary highway system, surfaces of which showed considerable alligatored type crack patterns, wear and ravelling; analysis of various samples of aggregate for sealing; generally most satisfactory results were obtained by using 0.35 gal bitumen and 30 lb cover aggregate per sq yd sealed; preparation of pavement; effect of weather conditions.
