Formation of vertical fractures by hydraulic fracturing
Factors predetermining efficiency of hydraulic fracturing studied on model under laboratory conditions; it is concluded that all fractures produced are vertical and first develops in upper part of sample; in 54% of cases three fractures were formed; depth of fractures does not exceed distance equal to 2 to 3 diameters of oil well. (See also - n 9 Sept 1958 p 56-9)
