New University of California Materials Testing Laboratory providing for class and research work in testing and developing engineering materials; equipment includes 4,000,000-lb universal machine; research on Hoover Dam concrete and San Francisco-Oakland suspension-bridge models; all partitions are of sound-absorbent porous concrete blocks, and room temperatures are automatically regulated.
