Reconstruction of Lukonde Bridge on Tanganyika Railways
Bridge is on Central Railway which joins Dar-es-Salaam with Kigoma on Lake Tanganyika; structure was destroyed by German forces; original bridge consisted of one main span of 40 m, with cantilever arm 8 m long at either end; main span consisted of Warren-type truss with sub-verticals, load being carried on deck; total length between end bearings was 104.3 m.
