Excavation work on tunnel development
Aqueduct 3 mi long cut along hillside above river; nature of ground and limited accessibility of site necessitated unusual construction method; dragline excavator, besides building up part of embankment which shovel could not reach, was capable of sloping embankment and cleaning up section in path of shovel; its weight acting upon recently placed material helped consolidation necessary before concreting could be begun.
