Hypar footings were provided for one block of apartments in housing project under construction in Madras, South India; project consists of 16 four-story blocks with eight apartments in each block; structure is of reinforcement cement concrete frames with conventional brick filler walls; analyses of stresses, design of foundations, results of load tests at design load and at failure, and construction methods are described.
