Effectiveness of automatic sprinkler systems in exhibition halls
Tests were conducted by Underwriters' Laboratories to investigate effectiveness of automatic sprinkler systems in simulated exhibition hall having ceiling heights of 30 ft and 50 ft; sprinkler system was operated at discharge density of 0.20 gpm/sq ft; each test involved combustibles consisting of obsolete display setups, covering area approximately 20×30 ft; summary of test conditions and results showed that discharge density of 0.20 fpm/sq ft from wet-pipe sprinkler system with sprinklers at 30- or 50-ft ceiling heights made it possible to control fire.
