On Dec 15 1967 fire struck Morgan Station of General Post Office in New York City; previous fire drill practices were useful in that about 1800 people working in building at time were evacuated without any major injuries; property damage, however, exceeds 10 million dollars; Morgan Station building was fire-resistive, with concrete-encased steel structural members and reinforced concrete floors; fire fighting techniques are described.
