Royal Lancaster is Rank Organization's first hotel in London; it occupies 9000-cu yd triangular site on north side of Hyde Park and consists of two-story podium, which incorporates entrance to Lancaster Gate underground station, and 17-story tower; there are four restaurants -- American-style coffee shop/grill, help-yourself table in Royal House of Lancaster public house, first-floor Beefeater restaurant, and rooftop Looking Glass restaurant; there are also three bars; conferences and banqueting are catered for in 10,000-sq ft suite on ground floor; illustrated description of various lighting designs including floodlighting of main entrance.
