Description of part of dredging equipment of hopper dredger Ludwig Franzius, ordered by Wasser- und Schiffahrtsverwaltung of German Federal Republic from Orenstein-Koppel und Lubecker Maschinenbau Aktiengesellschaft; dredger length oa is about 113 m, hopper capacity 2800 cu m, dredging depth 21.5 m, dredging pump 2×920 hp at 210 rpm, pressure water pump 2×415 hp at 1500 rpm, propulsion 2×2000 hp, Tornado bow thrustor 1000 hp; measurements made on 250 trial trips are discussed; photographs and diagrams.
