Stress analysis of translational shells
Set of governing simultaneous partial differential equations describing bending and membrane stress conditions in any translational shell are derived; by employing curvilinear coordinate system in middle surface of shell in direction of principal generators of surface, necessity of making shallow shell assumptions is eliminated; finite difference solution is performed for set of equations for fixed-edge hyperbolic paraboloid; small scale structural test program was instituted to verify assumptions made in derivation of equations, and to check numerical solutions.
