A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Survey of historical evolution of dome construction is made, and its characteristic features and advantages over other structural forms are analyzed; it is concluded that only steelwork is capable, by rational use of geometrical ideas, of leading way to new architecture in which maximum space is covered with minimum material; stereometric domes composed of standard steel sheet elements, and ellipsoidal and isotropic dome frameworks developed by author are shown.
