Movements in pipe conduits under earth dams
Data from field study of movements in pipe conduits under earth dams on compressible foundations are presented and analyzed; based on analysis, tentative method for estimating magnitude of maximum transverse horizontal strain induced along embankment foundation interface is proposed; method is designed to avoid necessity of estimating either modulus of elasticity or Poisson's ratio of soil.
