Earthquake considerations in earthdam design
Evaluation of dynamic response of structure in terms of likely displacements, whether under elastic or plastic conditions of deformation, is much more appropriate from basic concept of physical behavior; model testing, in spite of all difficulties and inadequacies, gives additional semiquantitative description of total behavior; by combination of analytical treatment and model testing much better appreciation of response of structure to earthquake is obtained from which adequate design features may be provided as explained by example of Ramganda saddle dam.
