Geological investigations for Wyangala dam spillway site
Investigations in connection with location and preliminary design; interdependence of geological conditions with design requirements for structure is stressed; dam under construction, is earth-core rockfill structure with slightly curved axis, having maximum height of 270 ft in river section and length of 4754 ft; eight-gate chute spillway. 454 ft wide, is provided immediately to left of main wall; this has design discharge of 520,000 cusecs with unlined approach and discharge channels; diversion is accomplished by 12 ft diam tunnel through right abutment of dam.
