Features and construction of main dam that forms reservoir which is fed by 18 sq mi of catchment; dam is 235 or 239 ft high, depending on which part of foundations is considered to be base, and consists of 11 equally spaced round head mass concrete buttresses and five mass concrete gravity blocks; buttresses form center part of dam, designed to carry 18,000 cusecs flood over crest, while gravity blocks form road approaches that will not be overtopped during floods; downstream face of dam's spill sections is clad with precast concrete beams which span across spaces between buttresses and serve to carry flood waters into side channels on either side of valley downstream of buttress foundations.
