Ageing of concrete dams in Scotland
Results of survey of 37 large concrete dams in Scotland, all of which were constructed prior to year 1957; with very few exceptions all dams were associated with hydroelectric developments, mainly those of North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board; majority of dams surveyed were mass concrete gravity structures, although conditions of some arch and buttress dams is reported on; comments are made on various design techniques, methods of construction, concrete and aggregate specifications, etc, and resulting condition after some years of operation is noted.
