Investigations of 132 Norwegian concrete dams
Investigation of 132 Norwegian concrete dams of different types and age; oldest group, up to 60 yr old, consists mostly of gravity dams; main group is less than 30 yr old and consists mostly of Ambursen dams and slender, reinforced arch dams; oldest Ambursen dam is more than 50 yr old; investigations have shown that damages to concrete may depend on environmental conditions; some damages due to freezing and percolation of water have been noted especially on older dams; damages are normally found to be result of local weaker zones and fault with earlier construction methods.
