Technique of streamflow measurement by integrating-float method is re-examined; effect of float acceleration on discharge measured by technique is analyzed using existing data for acceleration of spheres in fluids in gravitational field; sources of error due to nonuniformity of flow, turbulence, secondary currents, and fluid density stratification are described.
