Factors that affect equipment replacement decisions
In making study, it is first necessary to estimate pertinent future costs of keeping old machine using it on expected work; next, pertinent future costs are computed for use of replacement machine on expected work; recognizing time value of money, these two series of costs are then reduced to equivalent basis for comparison; items to be compared include loss in market value, interest on investment, and reserve for inflation.
