Concrete staves -- Pressing matter at Michigan plant
Features of manufacturing plant of C and B Silo Co near Charlotte, Mich, where half-million concrete silo staves are made annually, utilizing h-p type machine; hydro-pressed method of making concrete staves utilizes wet-mix and dry-tamp stave techniques; very wet mix is poured in special steel mold, capable of withstanding high pressures and designed in shape to produce corrugated concrete stave; immediate solidification of concrete permits stave of exact width and height characteristics to be produced from heavy, but precisely-machined, mold.
