Stress analysis of universal concrete test specimen
Concrete test specimen proposed by C.H.Best was analyzed for stresses using finite difference solution of biharmonic equation involving Airy's stress function; inferences concerning optimum widths of applied loads for splitting tension and compressive tests, permissible size of aggregates, dispersion of test results, and wedge type of fracture noted by N.B.Mitchell are made.
