A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Paper suggests theoretical method of estimating stresses round circular reinforced openings and, although approximate, evaluated peak stresses are believed to have slightly higher values than those occurring in practice, hence theory should be inherently safe to use; this theoretical approach was instigated during design of prestressed concrete reactor vessel but is also directly applicable to numerous problems in other branches of engineering.
