Tolerances in reinforced concrete structures
Requirements of tolerance specifications for prefabricated reinforced concrete components are described; designs should be such that tolerances can be kept to minimum in number and to maximum values, sufficient only to ensure correct erection and performance of structure; tolerances need not necessarily be absolute and can frequently be cumulative or relative, and these are preferable in appropriate cases; extracts are given from guide of Institution of Civil Engineers and British Standards Institution on tolerances which can reasonably be specified.
