Prestressing is used as structural technique for bridges, tanks, buildings, piling, marine structures, towers, poles, pavements, runways, pressure vessels, and machinery structures; such applications have led to more thorough knowledge of behavior of prestressed concrete under wide range of loadings and conditions, where temperature and pressure are combined with dynamic loading; such uses have demanded development of new technology; results of this development and experience and knowledge gained from wider range of use are, in turn, being reflected back to structural design and practice.
