A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Design of concrete formwork and other temporary wood structures is made with same basic criteria as for permanent construction; from practical standpoint, there are number of situations which occur in formwork but rarely in buildings; these situations are given little consideration in standard textbooks and in writings on structural design; formwork design is not subject to standardized building codes, and formwork designers are usually not practicing structural engineers; design criteria affected by these special circumstances are examined and existing literature is summarized.
