Method proposed permits more accurate determination of forces and moments and more economical dimensioning of structure than presently used analysis of buckling resistance; applicable to laterally displaceable rectangular frames with vertical and horizontal members; influence of structural inaccuracies, deformations due to concrete creep, and biaxial bending are considered; accuracy and limitations of this approximate method are discussed in example of portal frame.
