Fire endurance of simply-supported prestressed concrete slabs
Fire tests were conducted on 11 pretensioned prestressed concrete slab specimens; variables included thickness of cover, type of concrete, strand size, and load intensity; all slabs were 6.5 in. thick and 27.4 in. wide and were fire-tested while simply supported on rocker-roller bearings; results indicate that fire endurance is improved by increasing cover thickness and reducing load; light weight concrete slabs had longer endurance periods than comparable normal weight concrete slabs; method of estimating fire endurance.
