A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
This paper discusses problems of waterfront blight and how problems may be overcome; engineer's role in devising plans for waterfront renewal within metropolitan area is important since he must determine condition of all shoreline and costs of maintaining, improving, or replacing it so it can function in accordance with overall plan; also, water quality and quantity problems must be taken into account; properly executed, waterfront renewal plan within metropolitan area would combine land use and water use planning; and it would also range from methods of conserving what can be saved to renewing that which is beyond saving.
