Engineer's role in planning new city for megalopolis
Review concerning evolution of growth of cities into megalopolis is presented; under leadership of engineer it is necessary to solve such problems as transportation, roads and streets, highways, transit, water supply, sewage disposal, refuse collection and disposal, location of industry and commerce, air and water pollution, parks and recreation, airports, communications, public safety, police and fire protection, crime, noise control, redevelopment, urban renewal, soil and water conservation, preservation of forests and wooded areas; theoretical situation is assumed and solution presented, indicating engineer's important role of leadership.
