Application of prestressed concrete to restoration of lanterned tower of St. Nicholas Church in Ghent
General description of church built in 13th century, and of first restoration work started around 1890 and ended in 1948 is followed by account of present restoration which began in 1960; this operation consists of shoring of tower and strengthening of it by concrete frame, partially reinforced and partially prestressed, and finally in restoration of wall covering; design, calculation, and construction, inside tower's masonry, of three prestressed concrete beam frames at 24, 33, and 44 m levels are treated in detail.
